"City of Renaissance"
In conjunction with the second day of the "2026 Provincial Local Government Week" program implemented island-wide by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, i.e. Public Utilities Day, the Kandy Municipal Council organized Shramadana programs:
01. Cleaning of the Mada Ela from in front of the Suduhumpola Fire Station,
02. Cleaning of Mahaiyawa Cemetery,
03. Cleaning of Dutugemunu Road in Mahaweli Uyana,
04. Cleaning of Bogodawatta Public Well
05. Cleaning of the drainage system from near the railway gate on Madawala Road, Katugastota to Katugastota Railway Station
These programs were held under the patronage of the Hon. Mayor of Kandy, Mr. Chandrasiri Wijayanayake.
Deputy Mayor of Kandy Municipal Council Mr. Ruwan Galapitiya along with a group of Municipal Council members and Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Indika Kumari Abeysinghe along with municipal staff also participated in these programs.
